Speaking of Corporate Ignorance, American Freight. Columbus Ohio

Well to do Republican billionaire types like former presidential hopeful Mitt Romney are a very out of touch group of folks. They are typically blindsided by their money and more to the point it allows for their unfettered arrogance & privilege that comes with their billions. I inadvertently worked for American Freight who is owned by a billionaire type of person. His loud mouthed TV commercials for American Freight sell 7 piece living room suits for $398 bucks. Just imagine the quality ?

I was the door man in a swanky condo community and American Freight with their fingers in a lot of pies ended up owning the 3 empty units in our building plus the opulent penthouse. Now enter their chief guru the mother of the president of American Freight. As any good Republican does, she showed up to inspect her new property. I got 10 minute advance warning that she is a bitch from hell and was going to inspect the penthouse 1^st. The penthouse is covered in thick dust The skylights were not letting one bit of light in and they needed cleaned yesterday. I ran up stairs with a hose bucket and ladder did my best to get three lights cleaned out. Meanwhile I get soaked from head to toe not to mention sweat covered working inside the hot sunlight . I had no choice to remove my shirts and make a dash for my car for a different shirt. Naturally, I met her in the doorway as I headed toward the back stairs.

I only had one tee shirt with me that was wearable as I ran down to the car to change. I later met the rude bitch in person in my lobby and she griped I had left out too much equipment and my attire was substandard. Plus the bitch was out of joint as I had floor buffer out and a damp mop. It needed to be out as I was polishing the floor. before I got the 10 minute warning. I brought the toy buffer as she called it at Goodwill as the billionaires on the condo board typical cheap ass republicans could agree we needed a buffer but when came to buying it they hem hauled around the bush about the price for months. Finally, I just brought one at Goodwill to get the job done. That was my first encounter with American Freight.

They get worse. American Freight soon became in charge of my pay checks and they were ALWAYS 2 weeks late and sometimes they were months late. I discovered where their local office was and soon became a regular there seeking my late checks. The president of American Freight was just as bad as his mother was. I encountered him a few times and he even had the ‘good sense” to ask once how much the check was for and I said $600 bucks and he smirked and damm near gave up looking threw a stack of checks for such a small item. Meanwhile I am taking stuff to the pawn shop to get money to pay the car insurance and gas to run it. Utility bills are getting extra charges for being late. Finally they pay up. I lost over $270 bucks in late fees! Talk about a poor tax. American Republicans and often their Tea Party complainers tell EVERYONE to get a job, well I had a job but I often asked why? Going to the pawn shop and the food bank despite working, made it seem like I didn’t . If Mr. Belford really gave damm about people he would have seen to it his employees were paid. Despite working I had to put off going to the eye doctor at least 4 times as the checks were so late I had to cancel the appointment since I didn’t have the money.

Next, American Freight decides to furnish one of the empty units with some of their cheap furniture. Their contractor delivery company shows up with 14 pieces of furniture to fill this large prestigious $500,000 condo. Ok the delivery truck is a used u haul and apparently the only vehicle of its owner and his family . The driver my self and his helper are soon frantically assembling this cheap furniture and the drivers wife is calling as one of their kids is sick and needs to go to the doctor or hospital. He still had 4 more deliveries. I sent them on their way and finished the assembly and clean up on my own. I ALSO paid his delivery and set up charge of $125 bucks on my own. Really David Belford a billionaire owner of lots of things including American Freight could not arrange for the delivery charge to be handled? His delivery firm was a contractor working for ’free’. That is so Republican.!

As you might guess the next pay checks and re imbursement for the delivery were a over a month late and only arrived Dec. 24 . It is a good thing I never do the solstice season with gifts. Still it was the holiday season and pay on time would have been great and made the holiday season livable. You would think , common human decency would dictate that people get paid in a timely fashion but, Republicans are not human they are mean money machines.

Thankfully , my pay checks started coming from another source and I finally was able to recover and get my bills caught up. Still I cringe when some super well off ’job creator’ business person ,republican or tea party type goes on and on about the poor not working. The last time I seen Mr. Belford he was in the car park of the building I work in and double parked his new Porsche in the driving aisle as he visited his properties. He tried to be friendly and I just ignored the bastard. Respect is a two way street if you are not giving any respect don’t expect to get any. For the record I did learn threw the grapevine The Belford’s discovered their maid had kids sleeping on the floor and she tried to get them a few used mattresses.

Perhaps the rich and famous would be dollars ahead to hire all their help from a domestic agency It would cost more but pissed employees writing items like this would become a thing of the past. See they are too cheap to kind to themselves. As America goes third world the well off might be wise to do all their business behind their gated community doors or grow a heart and start treating people like ,people.

How very sad yet another Ivory Tower corporation another fast food chain inadvertently showed its hand and real attitude toward its on the ground in the restaurant employees during the TV show called Undercover Boss. This time some Ivory tower executive was sent out to have a look at the inner workings of their chain’s restaurants. This lady left a million dollar republican home with a kitchen that was to die for and had a very hard time pretending to be a normal Joe as she worked for a day a various Boston Market restaurants. Her Ivory Tower Life style and posh lifestyle showed. She was a by the book corporate guru with no real sense of the real world her employees dealt with every day. The woman proved she could not keep up , cut a chicken or run a drive threw, let alone handle the rough edges of employees. Corporate pencil pushers typically money driven republicans don’t have a clue or the experience to realize there comfortable world is not the world of their in the store workers.

Her corporate ignorance was never so evident as when she told the workers of a restaurant that there was built in ‘break’ scheduler on the time and attendance section of the company’s computer. She suggested the employees implement it and take their breaks. Really now? About the time an employee is scheduled for a break there will be a rush of customers. Employees know all too well that if they mess up one of those customers will call corporate offices and gripe. Then corporate comes in and cleans house. Corporate Ivory Tower people have no clue that perhaps not everyone showed up for work that day. Perhaps those that were there were suffering from a sore back, sore feet ,a cold, etc. Perhaps some employees cannot run the register or muli task to do mental and physical limitations? Perhaps there was a full staff there, and no one was in the mood to work for $6.00 an hour? These Ivory tower types would NEVER even go work if they had a sore something. Working class people go to work no matter what just to keep food on the table. I would love to see the corporate Guru’s down there in the trenches- they would not make it.

Boston Market and others are closing restaurants left and right as well they should. America is going third world and fewer white straight and narrow customers with money for the luxury of eating out can afford to frequent their place. These corporate Guru’s sit in their towers and play with the numbers and corporate policies and close stores that don’t perform and of course blame the workers ,the in the store workers. The ivory tower types, simply eventually see the writing on the wall and take their golden parachute and run right before they sell to Mitt Romney (2012 president candidate) and he comes in and plunders what is left of the capital and soon if you want to want to eat at Boston Market it will be in China.

Corporate types are so insulated from the real world that kill their very own company every day with their ignorance of their own business. The very same can be said for autism research the big Gurus’’ could care less of the autistic person all they see is a good job and steady career in autism, they are not about to be honest and promote timely research for fear of cutting their own throat and exposing Autism’s dirty little secret- Contemporary autism is a hoax of pure ignorance that got out of control.
